WORKSHOP ON CLIMATE CHANGE NEGOTIATIONS,
MANAGEMENT AND STRATEGY
July 26 - August 4, 2000
Apia, Samoa

ANNOUNCEMENT

The workshop will be held from July 26 to August 4, 2000, in Apia, Samoa.  The Government of Samoa is hosting the workshop under the auspices of AOSIS, with technical support from the United Nations Division for Sustainable Development, through the generous support of the Government of Italy, the Government of New Zealand, the Global Environment Facility, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The workshop will be held at the Hotel Kitano Tusitala in Apia, the capital city of Samoa. 

The agenda and the meeting will be arranged as follows:

1. July 26 to 27: Workshop on national communications to be conducted by the UNDP.
2. July 28 to 29: Consultation on the Capacity Development Initiative to be conducted by the GEF.
3. July 31 to August 3: Workshop on AOSIS climate change strategy, management and preparations for negotiations at COP-6, to be conducted by AOSIS.
4. August 4: Preparatory meeting for the 3rd AOSIS Workshop (to be held in Cyprus in January 2001) on climate change, energy and preparations for the 9th session of the Commission for Sustainable Development.
