Logroño in One Day
The itinerary for Logroño has to include a winery visit. To make sure you don’t waste much time here, have your winery trip booked in advanced. You also need to plan your tour according to the time you visit there. Start the day off by visiting one of Logrono’s beautiful wineries. The tours can start as early as 10 a.m. and run until 5 p.m. A typical tour will last around 2-3 hours, so if your tour is at 10 a.m. you can head back to the centre part of the city for lunch.
Head to the Old Quarter for a stroll and then have lunch. As you enter this place, you will see that it has retained the medieval feel. What will attract you throughout, are the narrow streets and the enchanting courtyards? You will walk on the trail, which leads the worshipers through Casco Antiguo, as they head to the tomb of St. James of Santiago de Compostela. Deviate from there and visit the beautiful sculpted Romanesque front at San Bartolomé Church. Head to the church of Santa Maria de Palacio from there and discover the precision of gothic architecture. Watch the statues and carvings intricately and get acquainted with the city’s culture. You will surely get tired and look for places to sample some local delights. As you go through the charming historic gardens, which line the Paseo del Espolón, you will find some lovely eateries to serve you well.
After you have had your lunch, get back to the old quarters to go through Cathedral of Santa Maria la Redonda. It holds the most representative image of the city and dates back to the 12th century. Next to the Santa Maria Cathedral you can walk along Portales Street and indulge in some shopping and prepare to end your day at a traditional restaurant nearby.
