Fuerteventura Festivals

Coming to the Canary Islands definitely gives you the chance to enjoy numerous festivals. Just like most of these islands, even Fuerteventura has events and festivals to keep you hooked on. Let us go through some major events you can mould your tour around:

Fuerteventura Carnival:

The patent carnival of the island happens to be celebrated between the months of February and March. The event takes place in the popular spots of Puerto del Rosario, Corralejo and Morro Jable. There are numerous funfairs, parties, music and performances which become a part of the celebration. Locals bring out the essence of the island and reflect the times gone by.

Fuerteventura Music Festival:

This event happens during the last week of June or first week of July. It is an annual music festival which is celebrated in El Cotillo. There are numerous stars that fly in here to perform some lovely music. It is the biggest summer music festival, which includes different band performances from all across the continent.

International Jazz Festival:

Just after the summer music festival, they celebrate International Jazz Festival. It stays tuned for three weeks and includes numerous jazz concerts and gigs.

PKRA Kiteboarding Grand Slam:

This famous Kiteboarding Grand Slam takes places during the month of August. It is a major event that happens in the beaches of Sotavento. There are numerous participants who compete for winning prize money of over €55,000. The event is quite an exciting experience for both locals and tourists.

Feast Day on Nuestra Senora del Pino:

This event is definitely going to interest every foodie! It happens during the first week of September, every year. The location of the event is in Antigua. It event has religious significance, followed by numerous activities performed by locals.

Isla de Lobos Swimming Competition:

This event takes places in the isolated oasis of Lobos. The swimming competition requires the participants to swim for 3.5 km. Every year, the event takes places during October. The swimming starts from coasts of Corralejo and ends at Lobos Island!

Fiesta de la Virgen del Rosario:

This is another festival which happens by the first week of October. This is celebrated in the honour of Patron Saint of Fuerteventura. There are numerous activities which are accompanied by good local food stalls. This event is celebrated in the popular tourist’s spot of Puerto del Rosario.

International Kite Festival:

One of the most popular events in this island takes places in November, is the International Kite Festival. It is held in the Dunes of Corralejo Natural Park, which is situated in the northeastern area of the island. This festival is a very famous affair and lets people flock in from different parts of the world.
