Holidays and festivals in Sevilla

Festivals in Sevilla

Festivals are where tourists get to see the local citizens enjoying their favourite past times, or celebrating their heritage. I love to visit towns when there is a local festival happening because the exposure to the local customs makes the visit a more enhancing experience.

Feria de Abril

Feria de Abril is a celebration that lasts for a week in Seville during the month of April. The celebration honours all of the things that make Seville unique for the local population. The most prestigious bull fights are held during this week at the Plaza de Toros. These fights will happen each afternoon during the festival.

Semana Santa

Semana Santa is a celebration of the Easter week. It is full of parades and processions through the city. Many people travel from all over the world to witness the events that happen during this week long festival that begins the Sunday before Easter.

Rocio Pilgrimage

This festival happens at the end of May or the early portion of June and the pilgrimage goes from Triana to Rocio.

Corpus Christi

This is the patron saint day that is celebrated on August fifteenth each year
