In summary this would include full financial support and depending upon the number of students available, distribution across several SIDS in the AIMS Region with the possibility of expanding it across regions in the event the pilot project is successful.

A selection of PhD students currently doing research on waste management systems in island states are looking for government run systems to research for their theses. Each student is specialized in a particular component of the system. Each student aims to come up with potential cost effective improvements with the end product of a proposal for improvements to the whole waste management system at little extra cost to the host country.
