With the two programmes (Statistics and Demography) now combined under the leadership of Mr. Graeme Brown (former ABS staff), the normal services these two programmes have been providing to countries will be enhanced. While the focus of the Programme will continue to be on training and technical assistance to improve NSOs capacity and national statistical systems, preparations for censuses and surveys are currently in progress. The outcome of these activities will contribute to expanding the current coverage of PRISM.

We wish you all a successful year 2006.


samoa statistical services division - achievements and developments

Promoting the use of PRISM locally has been our priority since the start of the project - whether in the form of awareness workshops, local media or within government Intranet systems.
Congratulations!to Samoa Statistical Services Division for being the first NSO to have its website on the Government Intranet System. Staff within the Office can now have access to the site to see how their contributions are being used. In this way we hope that this will lift staff morale so that data will be provided to the webmaster on a timely basis to be published. Other ministries can now also access the NSO website more easily to use relevant information in their work.
