(TimA@spc.int)

Tim Adams is the Director of the SPC Marine Resources Division, and is responsible for both the Coastal and Oceanic Fisheries Programmes. Tim is from northern England, and holds a doctorate in population genetics as well as degrees in botany and plant pathology.

After a short spell at the University of the South Pacific in the early 1980s, Tim joined the Fiji Fisheries Division on a local Fisheries Officer contract to work on a giant clam survey. By 1989, following a series of departures and promotions amongst his superiors, he found himself running the Fisheries Division. He joined SPC in 1992 as Senior Inshore Fisheries Scientist and took over the management of the SPC Marine Resources Division following Julian Dashwood's retirement in 1997.

On issues of SPC fisheries administration and policy, co-ordination with other agencies, meetings and areas not otherwise covered by individual programmes, Tim is the main contact person.
