Overview of the project

 

 

The Plant Protection in the Pacific (PPP) project is funded by the European Development Fund (EDF) and implemented by the Plant Protection Service of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC).

The PPP project started in January 2002.
 

 

PPP aims to facilitate quality food production and trade by minimizing pests. It provides technical advice, training, equipment, biocontrol, identification and information services.

Objectives

The purpose of PPP is to reduce poverty by improving agriculture production. It intends to promote:
Effective and sustainable quarantine services in PICTS

Sustainable pest management solutions and services

Adoption of improved pest management practices by farmers

Restoration of biological diversity to support sustainable pest management

Funding: 4.3 M euros (ACP: 3.2 M euros; OCTs: 1.1 M euros)

Staff: 5 Technical and 7 Support

ACP countries: Fiji, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu

OCTs: French Polynesia, New Caledonia, Wallis & Futuna
