Solomon Islands, an independent state and member of the
British Commonwealth, joined the Commission as a full member
in 1978.
The Secretariat implements programmes that benefit its 22
members the Pacific island countries and territories (PICTs).
Its mission is to help Pacific Island people make and implement
informed decisions about their future. Its services are provided
primarily in the form of technical assistance, training and
research.

SPC programmes provide services primarily in the form of technical
assistance, training and research. They also undertake
specific projects at the request of member countries and
territories.
Request for services need to be channelled through SPC's
official point of contact in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
