Building capacity, cooperation and knowledge:PWB Strategic Plan

The Pacific Women’s Bureau strategic plan to 2009 was endorsed in late 2005 in Palau by the annual meeting of SPC member nations, or CRGA. Under the Bureau’s shared goal with Youth, Women, Culture and Community Education programs of the SPC, the Bureau’s specific objectives for the new plan will focus on assisting national capacity, regional cooperation, and knowledge networking on the Pacific Platform for Action or PPA.

Joint Pacific Regional Statement to CSW 50

PIFS Gender Issues Adviser Samantha Hung with Pacific mission staff in New York during a briefing for the CSW in 2004.

The Pacific Islands Forum will again be using their UN Observer seat to submit a joint statement to CSW 50 on behalf of it's member countries. 
The statement will be coordinated by the PNG Mission to the UN in New York, as current Chair of of the Pacific Islands Forum. New York based UN Missions of member countries will share the draft statement and seek comment from their respective national women's machineries.

SPC guests bid high for pareo parity

More than 600 women took part in ceremonies marking International Women’s Day 2006 in
Noumea

at the Jean-Marie Tjibaou centre this morning.
Another 250 later lunched and bid highly for handed-painted wraps - “pareo for parity” – at the Secretariat of the Pacific Community headquarters nearby.  More...
