SIDS-focused Green Economy: An Analysis of Challenges and Opportunities

The report "SIDS-focused Green Economy: An Analysis of Challenges and Opportunities" was launched at COP7 of the Nairobi Convention for the Protection, Management and Development of the Marine and Coastal Environment of the Eastern African Region, which took place in Maputo, Mozambique, from 10 to 14 December 2012.

The Contracting Parties of the Nairobi Convention -among which there are SIDS, i.e., Comoros, Mauritius, Seychelles- , the Intergovernmental organisations and stakeholders present at the launch welcomed the report with enthusiasm.  Ms. Abdou Chakour Chadhouliati, Minister of Environment of Comoros, Ms. Ana Paulo Samo Gudo Chichava, Minister of Coordination for Environmental Affairs of Mozambique and Mr. Pho sun Kalle Deputy Director of Environment, Mauritius were panelists together with Ms. Jacqueline Alder, Head of the Freshwater and Marine Ecosystem Branch, DEPI, UNEP. Representatives of agencies of the UN family and the Indian Ocean Commission were also present.
