Nationwide Celebrations in Cuba for International Children's Day

Cuba celebrates today the International Children's Day with the conviction that no global crises or imperial blockades will be able to take away the happiness of the Cuban children, who are safe and protected and fully enjoying their rights.
Nationwide celebrations began on Wednesday morning in all Cuban elementary and secondary schools, parks, museums, plazas, and many other places. The programs included cultural and sports activities, and exhibitions of the Cuban Movement of Pioneer Children Scouts.
On this day, the Cuban children and teenagers sent a message of love, joy, and faith in the construction of a better world, from the island, which is a fortress of earned hope and safe childhood, stated the vice president of the Jose Marti Pioneer Organization (OPJM), Manuel Valera Escalona.
He noted that on such significant day, Cuba has the rare privilege to commit to assuring ever more the rights of children, which were conquered, granted even before they were born and defended against all odds by the Revolution.
On December, 1954, the United Nations General Assembly agreed to mark the International Children's Day, in view of understanding and brotherhood among children in the world. Every country would select the date, and Cuba, after the triumph of the Revolution, chose June 1 just as other nations.
