Scanning your floppy disk for virus

  1. Double click on the VirusScan icon. Or click on Start, Programs, Network Associates, McAfee Virscan

  2. The McAfee Viruscan interface will be displayed. In Scan in box, type A:\

  3. Select All Files to scan all files on the A drive.

  4. Click on the Action tab and select Clean infected files automatically under "When virus is found" section

  5. At the end of the can, a report will be displayed on the viruses cleaned and the ones it was not able to clean or delete. Inform Helpdesk of those viruses it was not able to clean.

If you are unable to read your disk, then the disk could be physically damaged and you will need to take it to the Help Desk for repair. The disk utility program, Norton will try to fix the problems on the physical sector of the disk but we do not guarantee that you will always get your files back. It depends on the severity of the disk problem.

Please contact the helpdesk on telephone extension 2117 or email at helpdesk(at)usp.ac.fj for further enquiries.
