USP Dialup Services

The USP Dial-up service allows University staff and students to access local network services (intranet) over the telephone network. The network services available include:

  • USP website
  • USP Webmail
  • Local network shares
  • Local FTP sites

Please note that access to Internet services such as the web is not available via the Dial-up connection.

IT Services will monitor use of these lines, and if it is apparent that lines are being kept open for long periods without good cause, will terminate the accounts of those responsible. The method of connection to the dial-up service is PPP (point-to-point protocol) based. Your computer is assigned a temporary IP address and becomes a node on the Internet.

You will be required to use your domain login password to authenticate your connection. If you wish to change your domain password go to the Change Domain password webpage.

What do you need:

  • A computer
  • A modem
  • A staff or student account
