Installing the modem driver
Select Start / Settings / Control Panel / Phone and Modem Options
Click on the Modems tab and select Add.
Click Next to allow Windows to detect your modem.
Windows will show you the modem it has detected. Click Next and then Finish.
Click OK. The modem driver is now installed.
Configuring the network software
Select Start / Settings / Network and Dialup Connections
Click Create a New Connection.
Select Dialup to the Internet and click Next.
Choose the option as shown above and click Next.
Select Connect using a dialup modem and click Next.
Fill in the phone number 3313657 for staff members and 3311088 for students. Click Next.
Fill in your dialup username and password. Click Next.
Give this connection profile and name (e.g. USP) and then click Next.
For setting up of mail clients, choose No and click Next followed by Finish.
Right Mouse click on the Dialup connection USP and select Properties
After selecting properties, you will see a screen similar to the one above. Select the tab Security.
In the security tab window click on the Advanced (custom settings) and click on the Settings Button
The new dialup system uses CHAP to authenticate your username and password so make sure that it is enabled as shown above
Click on Networking tab.
Select Obtain an IP address automatically
and select Use the following DNS server addresses
Type these DNS server addresses:
144.120.8.4
144.120.8.7
Click OK
