Installing Dial-up on Win2000

Installing the modem driver

Select Start / Settings / Control Panel / Phone and Modem Options

Click on the Modems tab and select

Click Next to allow Windows to detect your modem.

Windows will show you the modem it has detected. Click Next and then Finish.

Click OK. The modem driver is now installed.  

Configuring the network software

Select Start / Settings / Network and Dialup Connections

Double click Make New Connection. Click Next.

Select Dialup to the Internet and click Next.

Choose the option as shown above and click Next.

Select phone line and a modem and click Next.

Fill in the phone number 3313657 for staff members with full Internet access or 3311088 for students for Intranet access only. Click Next

Fill in your dialup username and password.  Click Next.

Give this connection profile and name (e.g. USP) and then click Next.

For setting up of mail clients, choose No and click Next followed by Finish.   

Connecting

Select Start / Settings / Network and Dialup Connections

Click Dial.

You will hear your modem dial and negotiate. If the computer is able to connect to the University, the username and password is verified.

If everything is configured correctly, after 20-30 seconds, you'll see the above window. Click OK.

Disconnecting

Double click on the the twin computer icon in the taskbar tray.
