Setting mail rules in Outlook Express

For the mails that arrive in your mailbox that are marked as ***SPAM*** you can use the mail filtering capabilities in Outlook Express mail to manage them effectively.

For SPAM messages that you receive it is advisable to move them to a folder which you could name as Junk and review them later to pick out your genuine messages.  Do not delete them, as you may risk losing some of genuine messages.  To ensure that those messages are not marked in future, report it to "spam.informer@usp.ac.fj"

  1. Go to the Tools menu, select Message Rules and Mail...
  2. Select New... option.

  3. Under "Select the Conditions for your rule" click on Where the Subject line contains specific words

  4. Type the key word ***SPAM*** and click on Add

  5. Under "Select Actions for your rule" click on Move it to the specified folder

  6. Click on the specified link and select the Junk folder.  If you have not created the folder, then click on New Folder to create it.

  7. Once done click Apply Now... to apply the new rule immediately on your Inbox

  8. Click OK to complete the task.
