Information Technology Services (IT Services), previously known as Computer Services, was established in 1985. It provides a comprehensive range of services required for the establishment, maintenance and support of the computer facilities required by the University. This covers the full range of functions - teaching, research, consultancy and administration. It also supports all the University's geographical locations around the region.
The operational aspects of IT Services include:
- the maintenance of agreed standards
- the installation of all computer equipment, software and networks
- advice and training for staff on the use of computer equipment and software
- full support for the provision of computer facilities to the University administration
These services are offered throughout the USP region. This is not always easy, as distance and lack of local facilities is often a problem. However, every effort is made to offer the same level of provision everywhere.
IT Services endeavours to both respond to users' new requirements, and to take a proactive role in leading and anticipating advances in technology and types of use.
ITS consists of the following sections: MIS, Systems & Network, Telecommunications, User Services, USPNet.
