Writing Style for Psychology

If you are following a psychology programme then you must use the American Psychological Association (APA) style of writing assignments, including the writing of references etc, on all psychology courses. The text Writing for Psychology by Robert P. O'Shea, uses APA style. If you want to understand APA style better then either read the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association or go to http://www.uwsp.edu/psych/apa4b.htm where there is a free guide to it. Students following other programmes, but who are taking psychology courses, may have learned another style of writing, such as the Harvard style. You are welcome to use that, but please use one of these approaches consistently throughout your assignments for a course.
