Accessing WebDAV-enabled Folders | Introduction | IE 5.x | Mac OS X | Windows 9x/ME | Windows 2000 | Windows XP | Dreamweaver MX

Accessing WebDAV-enabled folders on a Windows XP Web machine

On Windows XP machines, a web folder may be created in My Network Places. Once this is done, the web folder may be accessed through My Network Places. Instructions follow:


Step 1. My Network Places can be opened by Double-clicking on "My Network Places" on your Windows Desktop.

Step 2. Click on the "Add a network place" icon.

Step 3. In the Add Network Place Wizard, choose "Choose another network location

Step 4.Type your WebDAV URL and click on Next. The computer may need to install additional software at this point for WebDAV to function.

Step 4. You will now be asked to authenticate. Do the following:

  1. Type your domain "User name:".
  2. Type in your domain password after "Password".
  3. Be sure to uncheck "Save this password in your password list" so others using that computer will not have access to your folder.
  4. Click on "OK".

Step 5. Enter a name for your folder and click on next

Step 6. Your web folder has been created. You may be asked to authenticate again. It will also be available in My Network Places. Clicking on Finish will open up the Web share, creating a shortcut in my Network Places.

The above example is for illustrative purpose, only certain personnels from IT Services is allowed to access ITS webshare.
