Accessing WebDAV-enabled Folders | Introduction | IE 5.x | Mac OS X | Windows 9x/ME | Windows 2000 | Windows XP | Dreamweaver MX

 

Accessing WebDAV via IE 5.x

Step 1. Access to WebDAV resources is built into many modern operating systems and web browsers. To access a WebDAV resource through Internet Explorer 5.x, you need to open the File menu, select the "Open"; item, and in the resulting dialog box check the box that says "Open as Web folder" (see Figure 1 below).

Fig. 1: Accessing WebDAV via Explorer 5.x. This example shows how to access ITS webshare using WebDAV and IE. After accessing "Open" from the File menu, just type www.usp.ac.fj/its in the dialog box to ITS Webshare.

 

Step2. involved in accessing the webshare involves authentication, all the webshare authentication is done through the domain. Figure 2 below illustrates authentication against the domain.

Step 3. The WebDAV folder opens in IE as if it were another web page, but you can drag and drop files and folders to the WebDAV folder as though it were any other mounted directory:

The above example is for illustrative purpose, only certain personnels from IT Services is allowed is access ITS webshare.
