Accessing WebDAV-enabled folders using Dreamweaver MX

Macromedia's Dreamweaver MX supports WebDAV to upload files and manage your site. The steps below describe how to set up Dreamweaver MX to access your new web site. 

Step 1: Create a new Site

Start Macromedia's Dreamweaver and create a new Site for your web project. If you want to upload an existing site open the Site Definition via "Site" -> "Edit Sites..." and continue with Step 2.

To create a new site with Dreamweaver select "New Site..." from the "Site" menu. Enter at least your "Site Name" and your "Local Root Folder" where your want to store a copy of the web pages while editing.

Enter the webshare address that you are accessing e.g. www.usp.ac.fj/its

Leave the dialog on screen and continue with Step 2.

Step 2: Configuring "Remote Info"

Select "Remote Info" from the Category list. Now choose "WebDAV" from the "Access" selection and click on "Settings...".

URL

Enter the address from step 1, for instance "http://www.usp.ac.fj/its"

User / Password

Your domain username and password if you have been given privileges to access that particular webshare.

Email

Enter your Email address. Your Email address is used by the WebDAV module to show other users who is currently editing a document.

Step 3: Configuring your "Testing Server"

Select "Testing Server" from the Category list and enter the following values:

Access

Choose "WebDAV"

URL Prefix

Enter the same address as in Step 1

Access to your new web site is now configured and you can create and upload pages with Dreamweaver MX.

The above example is for illustrative purpose, only certain personnels from IT Services is allowed to access ITS webshare.
