Stinger Utility

Stinger is a stand-alone utility used to detect and remove specific viruses. It is not a substitute for full anti-virus protection, but rather a tool to assist administrators and users when dealing with an infected system. Stinger utilizes next generation scan engine technology, including process scanning, digitally signed DAT files, and scan performance optimizations.

You need to download the latest version of Stinger utility from our public domain. Click on the public domain link to access the stinger.exe file.

  1. Copy the Stinger.exe file from the Help folder to a convenient location on your harddisk such as your Desktop.
  2. Double-click on the Stinger.exe icon to open Stinger utility.

  3. The Stinger interface will be displayed.

  4. If necessary, click the Add or Browse button to add additional drives/directories to scan. By default the C: drive will be scanned.
  5. Click the Scan Now button to begin scanning the specified drives/directories.
  6. By default Stinger will repair all infected files found.

We advice that you copy this Utility on a storage device such as your floppy disk or USB Flash disk and take it home to apply on your home PC if it is infected. The most current version of Stinger will always be available in the Help folder on public domain at any point in time. For effective removal of current viruses, check this folder for the most current version of Stinger.
