[Example] Response to Pacific ICT Partnership

Organization Name:
UN-APCICT (UN Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Tehnology for Development

About UN-APCICT:

A regional institution of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). The Centre’s mission is to strengthen the efforts of the member countries of ESCAP to use ICT in their socio-economic development through human and institutional capacity building. To meet this objective, APCICT’s work is focused on three inter-related pillars – Training, Research and Advisory Services. Together they form an integrated approach to ICT human capacity building.

Preliminary suggestion for partnership :

We have initiated the roll-out of APCICT’s flagship initiative, the Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders Programme (the Academy). The Academy is a comprehensive ICTD curriculum including eight core training modules, intended to provide senior government leaders with the skills and knowledge to fully embrace ICT opportunities for socio-economic development. This would appear to tie in with SPC's implementation of the Framework for Action on ICT for Development in the Pacific.

If this is of any interest to the SPC, please get in touch with John Smith at ESCAP's office.
