2 February 2012: The Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar Convention) and the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) jointly celebrated World Wetlands Day (WWD) 2012 around the theme of wetlands and tourism, with the goal of advancing sustainable tourism development in wetlands. 23 January 2012: The seventh UK-Caribbean Ministerial Forum, which was organized under the theme “Sustainable Growth Toward Prosperity,” concluded with the adoption of a 31-point action plan. 25 January 2012: An inter-agency report, titled “Green Economy in a Blue World,” concludes that the ecological health and economic productivity of marine and coastal ecosystems can be enhanced from well-managed marine sectors.
