This meeting is scheduled to be the final of five Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC) meetings to negotiate a legally binding instrument on mercury. The meeting will take place sometime between 12-20 January 2013, with the final decision to be reached by the Bureau. 22 March 2012: The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) hosted a workshop in Nadi, Fiji, for regional experts to review the species action plans of its 2008 – 2012 Regional Marine Species Programme.

23 March 2012: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the South Pacific Geoscience Commission (SOPAC) Division of the South Pacific Community (SPC) in partnership with the Solomon Islands Government, plan to introduce a remote sensing mapping and Geographic Information System (GIS) to map land and forest cover in the Solomon Islands.
