1 May 2012: The 16th session of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) opened on 30 April 2012, in Montreal, Canada. 27 April 2012: The International Polar Year (IPY) 2012 Conference convened around the theme “From Knowledge to Action,” with discussions on a variety of issues related to Arctic issues. 24 March 2012: The Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) commemorated World Tuberculosis (TB) Day on 24 March, under the theme of “Stop TB in my lifetime.” In the Pacific, 16,107 TB cases were diagnosed in 2010, 14,531 in Papua New Guinea and 1,576 in other Pacific Islands countries (PICs).
