27 April 2012: A two-day consultation in Nauru was conducted by the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS), the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) and the UN, to map out a five-year national action plan on the economic empowerment of women. 27 April 2012: The International Polar Year (IPY) 2012 Conference convened around the theme “From Knowledge to Action,” with discussions on a variety of issues related to Arctic issues. 24 April 2012: The Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) has published gender mainstreaming assessments of the Cook Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Tonga, which were completed from 2009-2010.
