Organized by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), this workshop aims to build capacity to: create national action plans for implementation of the CBD Programme of Work on Protected Areas; access funding based on these action plans; and strengthen implementation of the programme of work on the themes of governance, climate change, and valuation of the costs and benefits of protected areas, with a focus on marine protected areas (MPAs) where applicable. 26 January 2012: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has requested Parties to submit action plans for the implementation of the CBD programme of work on protected areas (PoWPA).
Preparation of the action plans has been facilitated through a series of sub-regional capacity-building workshops to support implementation of the PoWPA, held thus far for West Africa, the Pacific, and South, East and South-East Asia.
