The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN-DESA), with technical support from the UN Economic and Social Commission's (ECLAC) Subregional Headquarters for the Caribbean, will hold a UNCSD preparatory event for the Caribbean. The UN General Assembly, in December 2009, adopted a resolution calling for a UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD) to be convened in Brazil in 2012 (also referred to as Rio+20).
