16 June 2012: Oceans Day took place at the Rio Conventions Pavilion, on the sidelines of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20). The event consisted of seven panels, a lunch celebrating ten years of the Global Ocean Forum and the 30th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), and a closing session presenting the outcomes of Oceans Day to the Rio+20 process.

The ministerial meeting, held on the occasion of the 11th Festival of Pacific Arts, aims to highlight the contribution of culture to sustainable development through the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's (UNESCO) normative actions in culture. 1 June 2012: The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has released the report and recommendations of an experts meeting on Climate Change Education for Sustainable Development in small island developing States (SIDS), which was held in Nassau, the Bahamas, from 21-23 September 2011.
