23 March 2012: The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) has announced that US$2.3 million from the Pacific Environment Community (PEC) Fund has been approved to install solar panels in rural homes in Fiji.

10 February 2012: The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) hosted a planning workshop for Pacific Plan Desk Officers to encourage collaboration between Smaller Island States (SIS) and the work of PIFS. 13 February 2012: The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) has announced that US$4 million from the Pacific Environment Community (PEC) has been approved to install home solar power generation systems in rural areas of the Solomon Islands.
