At the initiative of the EU, Heads of delegation of the North East Atlantic Fisheries Commission (NEAFC) gathered in London, UK, from 31 March – 1 April 2009, to consider NEAFC measures to implement the UN General Assembly resolution calling for vulnerable marine ecosystems to be closed for bottom-gear fishing activities.
