26 October 2012: The Global Water Partnership – Caribbean (GWP-C) and Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) trained 20 participants from the agriculture sector in Barbados in water use efficiency (WUE). The training opened with an address by Charleston Lucas, Chief Agricultural Officer, Ministry of Agriculture, Barbados, who underlined that “there can be no food security without without land and water security.”

27 September 2012: During a meeting on the sidelines of the opening of the UN General Assembly session, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon assured leaders of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) of improved cooperation between the UN and CARICOM regarding trade, debt, climate change and transnational organized crime, among other issues. This meeting is organized by the UN Economic Commission on Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), and will bring together technical experts and government representatives of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries, Cuba and the Dominican Republic to examine the results of assessments of the economic and social impacts of climate change on the agriculture, coastal and marine, energy, health, tourism and water sectors in the Caribbean. The UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will convene a final working group session of consultants and representatives of ECLAC, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) before draft reports of the economic and social impacts on climate change on the Caribbean's agriculture, coastal and marine, energy, health, tourism and water sectors are prepared. CSEF is a biennial renewable energy and energy efficiency forum that has been held in the Caribbean region since 2008. Organized by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat with financial support from the Government of Finland, CSEF III will be organized around the theme "Advancing Energy Integration and Energy Access through Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency." A special focus of the event will be geothermal energy.
