19 July 2012: Catarina de Albuquerque, UN Special Rapporteur on the right to safe drinking water, highlighted that the impacts of climate change are exacerbating water and sanitation challenges in Tuvalu. She recommend the Government of Tuvalu immediately adopt and implement its draft Water Act and its Sustainable and Integrated Water and Sanitation Policy.

June 2012: The UN Economic and Social Council’s (ECOSOC) Committee for Development Policy (CDP) has published a background paper reviewing the role of climate change vulnerability in identifying Least Developed Countries (LDCs). 13 June 2012: The Executive Board of the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) and the UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS) released a draft sub-regional programme document for the Pacific Island Countries and Territories (PICTs) for 2013 to 2017.
