23 October 2012: The Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) has announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), on a unified approach to coordination of energy security strategies around the Pacific.

9 October 2012: The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) has released two reports, titled “Tracking the Effectiveness of Development Efforts in the Pacific,” and the “Pacific Regional Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Tracking Report.” Both reports were endorsed by Pacific leaders at the Pacific Island Forum Leaders meeting, which convened in August 2012, in Rarotonga, Cook Islands.

5 October 2012: The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) has announced that Niue will have access to US$4 million in funding from the Pacific Environment Community (PEC) for a national solar power initiative.
