Towards the end of 2013 or beginning of 2014, an intergovernmental preparatory committee will convene to prepare for the 2014 Third International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS). The decision on the preparatory process for the Conference was taken in the UN General Assembly (UNGA) on 21 December 2012, following consultations in the Second Committee, which approved Resolution A/C.2/67/L.40. 21 December 2012: The Compliance Assistance Programme of the UN Environment Programme’s (UNEP) Regional Office for Asia and Pacific (ROAP) is completing a series of Montreal Protocol Enforcement Training Workshops to help customs and enforcement officers in 12 Pacific small island developing States (SIDS) prepare for their Protocol commitments involving hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs).
