22 May 2011: Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) held a retreat to continue their discussions on “Prioritising the Focus and Direction of the Community,” which they initiated at the 22nd Inter Sessional Meeting, held in Grenada in February 2011. The retreat ended in, inter alia, a renewed commitment to the achievement of tangible results from the integration process, with emphasis on job creation and improving the lives of the people of the Community.

30 June 2011: The International Coordinating Council of the Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB) of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has added 18 new sites to the World Network of Biosphere Reserves (WNBR), bringing the total number of sites to 580. 4 August 2011: The World Bank approved a US$8.75 million grant from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) to establish trust funds for the long-term conservation and management of over 100,000 hectares of marine habitat in the Eastern Caribbean.
