The 2012 Third World Summit on Sustainable Development (Rio+20), saw 36 representatives and heads of state from Small Island Developing States (SIDS) take to the floor during the Plenary Session to deliver statements on a range of issues of importance and relevance to them. 8 April 2013: The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) has announced Daniel Namosuaia, of the Solomon Star newspaper, as the 2012 winner of the Vision Pasifika Award, on the theme “Clean Pacific,” in the framework of the Pacific campaign addressing waste management issues in the region.

27 March 2013: Two recent meetings of the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF), its Sixth Meeting of the Carbon Fund Participants (CF6, 15-16 March) and its 14th Meeting of the Participants Committee (PC14, 19-21 March 2013), have discussed updates on emissions reductions programmes and considered presentations on REDD+ readiness from a number of countries.
