This workshop is open to one member of civil society from: Cook Islands, Fiji, Indonesia, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Timor Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. It is an opportunity for civil society organizations to interact with other colleagues and learn first hand about the Global Environment Facility (GEF) strategies and programs. 5 June 2012: The Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) has reported that the Global Climate Change Alliance (GCCA): Pacific Small Island States project held its first regional steering committee meeting in Suva, Fiji, from 28–29 May 2012. GCCA is a global EU-supported initiative aimed at strengthening dialogue and cooperation on climate change in developing countries most vulnerable to climate change.

11 May 2012: At the 2012 Forum Trade Ministers’ Meeting (FTMM), the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) updated ministers on its trade-related work, including the region’s Traditional Knowledge (TK) Action Plan. Decisions taken by the ministers are contained in the 2012 FTMM Outcomes Document. The FTMM took place on 11 May 2012, in Majuro, the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI).

3 May 2012: The Pacific Island Forum Secretariat (PIFS) announced that as part of the Cairns Compact on Strengthening Development Coordination in the Pacific (Forum Compact), a peer review team assessed implementation of its recommendations to the Government of Niue on national planning, budgeting, financial and aid management systems and processes.
