15 September 2012: The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) has announced that the Government of the United Kingdom (UK) has joined SPREP. 28 August 2012: The Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) has announced the appointment of Tuiloma Neroni Slade, Secretary-General of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS), as the inaugural Ocean Commissioner. Slade’s appointment seeks to provide the Pacific community with a high-level spokesperson to spearhead the Pacific Oceanscape initiative.
