17 January 2011: The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) has published the report of the 21st SPREP Meeting, held from 6-9 September 2010 in Madang, Papua New Guinea. 17 March 2011: The Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) announced an initiative to assist French Polynesia in mitigating the risk of natural disasters. European Development funds will provide the EUR1.085 million needed for the initiative. Activities under the initiative will focus on reinforcing the safety of populations in two vulnerable areas of French Polynesia. 7 June 2011: The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) held a mid-term review conference, highlighting efforts to conserve species and sites in the Polynesia-Micronesia Biodiversity Hotspot, which is rich in plant and animal life.
