In my view, the Green Economy debate must be linked to sustainable development resulting from both a realistic reflection of the current situation and a desirable vision for the future. It should have an attainable goal based on a mutual agreement and should address the need to continue reducing the gap between developed and developing countries while promoting peace, progress and justice for all.

16 February 2012: The Committee for Development Policy (CDP) of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) has published a report outlining actions that could be taken by the international community and countries graduating from least developed country (LDC) status to strengthen the preparatory process for graduation. 16 January 2012: The Ad Hoc Working Group (AHWG) on the graduation of Least Developed Countries (LDCs) held its first, organizational meeting, at which it approved the draft programme of work.
