18 October 2012: The Organization of American States (OAS) and the Government of Mexico announced joint implementation of a project aiming to improve the capacity of Caribbean countries to value and measure ecosystem services of coral reefs and to strengthen coastal zone management systems.
ReefFix also seeks to complement existing initiatives to protect the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System (MBRS) off the shores of Belize, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico.

26 October 2012: The Global Water Partnership – Caribbean (GWP-C) and Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) trained 20 participants from the agriculture sector in Barbados in water use efficiency (WUE). 29 September 2012: The Government of Samoa has announced that Pacific representatives have agreed that Samoa will host the Third Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Global Conference, scheduled to convene in 2014, while Fiji will host the preparatory meetings.
