Inter - regional Exchange:

An observation raised by stakeholders is the lack of in person representation from key people in other island regions at regional seminars on island  issues. Despite the convenience of Internet networking, face to face interaction forges bonds that cannot be done via email. SIDSnet has a programme for the first 12 months to provide seed funding of up to $2000 for 25 interregional visits. The criteria for acceptance is as follows:

1. Meeting / seminar must be related to issues from the Barbados Programme of Action.

2. Meeting / seminar must be in another island region from the one which stakeholder resides. (Islands Regions are: Pacific, Caribbean, Indian Ocean /African Coast)

3. Endorsement required from the regional SIDS contact.

4. SIDSnet will only provide support for 1 participant per region to each seminar.

5. Participant required to provide a short summary of experience to be published on this site.
