Regional Consultancies:
Before confirmation of the project document for SIDSnet, an informal regional consultation was undertaken in the Pacific, Caribbean and Indian Ocean.

Caribbean: Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, March 16-17, 1998
Stakeholders from key regional organizations were brought together at UNDP Trinidad, for a round table discussion regarding the SIDSnet project. The Caribbean was the appropriate place to begin with their early involvement in the formation of SIDSnet. Details of participants and recommendations are available on the following report.

Pacific Islands: April 27 - May 23, 1998
The SIDSnet project manager visited the main centers in the region holding presentations and discussions with key regional organizations. The mission included Fiji, Samoa and Papua New Guinea and enabled presentations with key regional stakeholders in each country. Details are on the following report.

Indian Ocean : Mauritius, June 15-16, 1998
A round table meeting was kindly hosted by the Indian Ocean Commissionwith representatives from Seychelles, Madagascar, Reunion, Mauritius andComoros. The meeting raised several issues regarding needs in the region. Read the report.
