The objectives of the SIDSnet partnership programme are to involve stakeholders in the implementation of SIDSnet in their region and the management of this web site. The goal is to ensure that SIDS activities receive maximum exposure on the Internet, and to enlist support to boost the sustainability and relevance of the web site.

United Nations Division for Sustainable Development

The Division for Sustainable Development serves as the substantive secretariat responsible for servicing the Commission on Sustainable Development; for follow-up of the implementation of Agenda 21 as well as the Plan of Implementation (POI) of the World Summit on Sustainable Development.



Alliance of Small Island States

AOSIS is a coalition of small island and low-lying coastal countries that share similar development challenges and concerns about the environment, especially their vulnerability to the adverse effects of global climate change. It functions primarily as an ad hoc lobby and negotiating voice for small island developing States (SIDS) within the United Nations system.



Sustainable Development Networking Programme

SDNP was launched in 1992 as a catalytic initiative to kick-start networking in developing countries and help people share information and expertise relevant to sustainable development to better their lives.



Special Unit for Technical Cooperation Among Developing Countries
- SU/TCDC was created in 1974, the Special Unit within UNDP promotes technical cooperation among developing countries.

Global Environment Facility (GEF)
Established in 1991, helps developing countries fund projects and programs that protect the global environment. GEF grants support projects related to biodiversity, climate change, international waters, land degradation, the ozone layer, and persistent organic pollutants.

South Pacific Regional Environment Programme - SPREP’s mandate is to promote cooperation in the Pacific islands region and to provide assistance in order to protect and improve the environment and to ensure sustainable development for present and future generations.

University of the West Indies - Centre for Environment and Development UWI is an autonomous regional institution supported by and serving 15 different countries in the West Indies - Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts/Nevis, St. Lucia, St.Vincent & The Grenadines, Republic of Trinidad & Tobago.

Global Islands Network - GIN is a non-profit organisation established in June 2002 to conduct and promote culturally appropriate, ecologically sound, economically sustainable and socially equitable development on islands worldwide.

University of Malta - Islands and Small States Institute
The Islands and Small States Institute promotes research and training on economic, social, cultural, ecological and geographical aspects of islands and small states. Based at the Foundation for International Studies at the University of Malta, the institute evolved from the Foundation's Islands and Small States Programme which had been set up in 1989. In 1993, the Programme was restructured as an Institute with the principal aim of enabling the organisation to offer academic courses.

University of the South Pacific - USP is the premier provider of tertiary education in the Pacific region and an international centre of excellence for teaching, research consulting and training on all aspects of Pacific culture, environment and human resource development needs.

Capacity 21of United Nations Development Programme -
Cap21 was launched at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment & Development (UNCED). Capacity 21 works with developing countries and countries in transition to find the best ways to achieve sustainable development and meet the goals of Agenda 21.
