Volunteers
We are looking
for volunteers to moderate 43 island discussion lists
and theme discussions. We need motivated people interested
in island issues. You do not need to be an expert with
the Internet. You can manage your mailing list using
your browser. Enroll your organization if you are involved
in the themes of Climate Change, Biodiversity, Sustainable
Tourism, Coastal and Marine Resources or Energy. Let's
bring people together around island issues!
Tasks for the
moderators include the following:
- Daily management
of the new submissions
- Moderation
of the discussions
- Small research
on topics being discussed, if necessary.
Requirements:
- Five to ten
minutes every day for the tasks described above
- Frequent access
to a computer with Internet connection
- Knowledge
of sustainable human development and island issues
- Knowledge
about specific island or theme chosen
- For the moderation
of themes, organizations working in the particular
field are preferred.
If you are interested
in becoming a SIDSnet moderator, please contact
us.
Organizations
We will work with non-governmental
organizations (NGOs) and other organizations to enable
them to use the Internet as a tool for their activities.
SIDSnet can provide exposure through our newswire
and tools to enable better use of the Internet. We
will also use direct references to relevant organizations
focused on specific activities which require global
consensus/attention.
Preparation of Events
The build up to critical
SIDS conferences requires effective communications
to ensure that islands can focus on common issues.
These pages will provide focused forums, relevant
contacts from each region and and other tools to assist
with ensuring consensus on a common SIDS agenda!
